Clyde Bennett v. R&L Carriers, et al. – On December 2, 2009, a jury returned a verdict of $3,264,000 to Jim Thorsen’s client in the United States District Court, Eastern District of Virginia, Richmond Division. The final verdict of $2,066,919.90 was the largest malicious prosecution jury verdict at the time and the verdict was affirmed on appeal by the 4th Circuit Court of Appeals on June 21, 2012.

Confidential Settlement (2003) – Jim Thorsen handled a defamation case for an individual and his business bearing his name against a broadcast media company and its reporter. The case was settled on a confidential basis 60 days prior to trial for $1,500,000 and $90,000 worth of television advertising.

Hawkins v. Virginia Department of Corrections, et al. – On behalf of his client, Jim Thorsen obtained a settlement in 2010 in the amount of $1,850,000 in a case involving an inmate on inmate assault and battery brought in the U.S. District Court, Eastern District of Virginia, Richmond Division.

9/11 Victim Compensation Fund – On a pro bono basis, Jim Thorsen handled 9/11 Victim Compensation Fund claims on behalf of the father of a female Army enlistee who was killed while working at the Pentagon and for a mentally-impaired civilian employee who was injured in the attack on the Pentagon.
